Near river Meenachil

A field trip for the students planned on 15/12/2010.I was waiting eagerly ,as I had planned the trip,so that we will get a chance for a picnic on the river side.We started at 8.30 AM in the morning from Pampady.24 students me and Dhanya.First we went to the Water purifification plant at Thiruvanchoor. The bus stopped at the bottom of a small hill.We were excited to climb to the top through a huge pipe going uphill!

We sat on the way to get some rest for the gasping friends!
Once we got to the top,the scenery awaiting us took our breath away! The land was covered by fine grass, flowered and touch me nots!Students loved to pose among grass.
                                   Suby posing in grass
Beautiful!Isn't it?
students watching the filter beds
Then we started moving into the plant .They showed us the adding of chemicals to raw water from the river Meenachil. Then as the next step water is directed through a filtration bed with graded sand and gravel.

Then we watched the huge sedimentation tanks and chlorinator machine which chlorinates the water using chlorine gas.Outside the building was the aeration tank and storage tank.
Moving near aeration tank-looks like a fountain

Then we relaxed outside ,had some snacks and moved to the river side.

Calm and quiet, river Meenachil waited for us.

Students cooed and babbled. It is going to be excitement playing in river.

journey through nature

Soon the car was moving through Neriyamangalam forest ..the cool breeze caressed our faces...
We etered the forest with  dark shady trees with unknown names and mysterious sounds..rain started falling...

The long cherished dream ..Cheeyappara waterfalls !The beauty of  the falls was breathtaking!

Again under the canopy of enormous trees...The serenity of green forest overlaps us...

Roots of a banyan tree on a huge rock

A journey through the heart of nature..

We started at 9.30 am on sunday.I and Nandu were so happy wearing our new dress ready for the exciting drive..Nandu likes colourful dresses with all mirror works and beads...She imagines she is a princess or something like that!
